WEAVING PLANT

Blackfabric has a well-equipped weaving plant capable of producing bidirectional fabrics up to 200 cm wide, with an annual capacity of 3 million linear meters. Thanks to the diversity of the machinery available, various fibers can be woven, including natural fibers, recycled carbon fibers, commingled yarns, spread tows, and more. Specialized technologies include:

TAPE WEAVING

Specialized machinery for weaving flat tapes up to 20 mm wide.

SAMPLING LOOM

A laboratory-scale loom used for weaving fabric samples with just one yarn cone, facilitating initial design and prototyping.

CREELS

Over 500 positions in the creels to adjust fabric density as needed, ensuring a flat, twist-free, and high-quality weaving process.

CUSTOMIZED FABRICS

The production capacity is flexible, enabling the design and manufacture of tailored fabrics to meet each customer’s specific requirements.
PROCESSES

BONDING PLANT

In-house lamination plant, working with calender and hot melt machinery. With heat and pressure, applying thermoplastic polymers to provide specific and functional properties to fabrics. This process serves the following purposes: 

FABRIC STABILIZATION

Thin veils are laminated to one side of the fabric, fixing the weave structure, enhancing ease of handling, cutting, and fabric processability, while preventing deformation.

THERMOPLASTIC PREPREGS

Thermoplastic films are laminated onto the fabric surface, creating a “fiber + matrix” material suitable for the thermoforming process, eliminating the need for additional impregnation processes.

PROCESSES

PROTOTYPING PRESS

An internal hot plate press is utilized for consolidating thermoplastic prepregs, ensuring the quality of the process. It features a heated surface measuring 500×450 mm, capable of reaching temperatures up to 300ºC. 

PROTOTYPING SERVICE

Thermoforming services are available for the creation of initial consolidated prototypes based on clients’ molds. This service is tailored to support specific needs and expedite product development.

MONITORED MOLD

A closed mold, equipped with temperature and pressure sensors, is available for sheet production and mechanical material testing.

SHORT-RUN PRODUCTION

In addition to prototyping, the press is fully operational for small-scale manufacturing processes, supporting new entrepreneurial projects and R&D initiatives by efficiently producing limited product quantities.
